Have had ViaSat for years out in a rural area -- actually, it was first Wild Blue and then Exede. It was great service until the last few months when my husband discovered streaming! I upped from 60GB to 100GB a month and had to even buy extra because it just wasn't enough even using the data extender! Took a deep breath and called SDWisp when encouraged by a neighbor's recommendation and satisfaction with their service.

Now we have 1000GB, the streaming is awesome and the price can't be beat! The service was quick, Keith and assistant were even early, very efficient, pleasant -- even let me ask a bazillion questions during installation ( I know, I know, shaddup already). The router is great looking and I love seeing the blue lights sparkling on the little white dish outside in the night. Sorry I waited so long to make the change.

250% more expensive than city competition, outages EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Only reason for more than one star is the customer service guys are nice. It is clear half of these 5 star reviews are fake.

Outstanding customer service. Friendly and knowledgeable service technicians. Just a great business. I trust these guys, in today's day and age that says a lot.

So, let's begin this tale by saying that before last Thursday, I was with Viasat for the last 2 years. That was when I moved out to Jamul and I guess I had resigned myself to the notion that satellite internet was my best bet. Poor research on my part? Probs. Blame me. So, with Viasat, it was bad. I mean, it was always bad, but somehow it got progressively worse. Like, streaming sites always varied in crispness or loading time, but it got to a point where we couldn't even watch anything on Amazon anymore.

Do you feel like Amazon is the most difficult site to stream? I feel that way. Buffer. Buffer. Buffer. Anywayzzz, one day about a month ago as I was trying to upload something for work and it just would not work I was THIS close to throwing my router into the squirrel encampment down the hill. Let them deal with it as they do with everything else around here. Router in hand, cooler heads prevailed and I instead starting googling options.

I remember a buddy of mine, Sam, up in Northern CA telling me how he lived in the sticks and had lightning fast internet. Something called 'line of sight' internet. So, I started there. (I was searching on my phone. If you've been following along, I had pulled the Viasat router out of the wall). That search led me to SDWISP. Clearly, I called.

I scheduled an appointment with Keith. Super cool guy. He walked the property with binoculars and, sadly, said I was just out of range of their towers, which was essential, but, he also told me he was a worker of magic and he'd get back to me. Ok, for reals, I was dejected. Because.1. Usually when any company says they can't make something happen and they leave your property it's, to quote NSYNC, "Bye, Bye, Bye".

And 2. I was envisioning my future life of satellite effing internet. It was dark. Lonely. Not my best life. Soooooo, guess what happened? You know what happened! Keith called me back and said he worked that magic and was gonna make this happen. He came back out, set my system up, and now I'm Yelping in the moment, with crazy fast speeds, and all caught up on my Amazon shows. Hey, seriously, the price is right and it's honestly changed my life. Bad internet doesn't have to be your future. You don't have to suffer. Make the change. SDWISP.

Strange company. I can't attest to their service because I was never able to initiate it. I sent an online request and received an online confirmation that they would contact me. A few days went by and i decided to leave a voice mail. Still no response I sent a message via Yelp, asking if they were still in business. I received a prompt response, asking that I submit another online request.

I received a call from a blocked number and obviously didn't answer. It was from SDWISP. I called back 2 minutes later but no answer. His message indicated that I already had his service at my property, I called back again to ensure him that I didn't. I don't have Internet, can't get internet, and have to use my phone as a hot spot.

I called, left messages, sent a text and zero response. I don't have many internet options and I had hoped this would be a viable option but that is obviously not the case. My assessment, poor customer service, at best. Perhaps it's best I didn't sign up with them.

Seriously the BEST! We have been with SDWISP for a few years now, and man are they awesome. It's hard to find great internet in Jamul, and we finally found a trusted and reliable service. We have needed help a few times, a storm messed up the connection, dogs chewed up our internet cord, had a bad modem. The modem was ours and they replaced it, and it has been amazing no issues for over 2 years.

After a storm Keith came out right away after his bike ride on a Sunday and fixed the dish. (Which he didn't have to do that on a Sunday. but he was nice enough to do it!) And lastly after our dogs chewed the cord, Keith was able to help us out again right away. We have dealt with a few people in the company and they are all nice and helpful. PRICE is totally reasonable! we use our internet at lot. Netflix playing often, and of course some COD.

We also live where we get zero phone service with out WiFi. and so we really rely on SDWISP and we haven't been disappointed. Again I am very happy With them. Especially because of Keith! We highly highly recommend them! Thanks SDWISP!

SD Wisp is the greatest Internet service providers i have ever had. i have had cox and Hughes net and by far this is the best. we are able to play online video games and stream two different Netflix accounts at the same time without any problem. On Thursday my dogs were able to chew the cable coming into my house and shorted out our radio. On Friday after work i got ahold of Keith and he worked his magic and got us back up on line no problem.

Being able to get our internet back for a quarantined weekend is a big deal in Jamul and waiting till monday wasn't going to be good. This isn't the only time he has helped me and i guarantee it wont be the last. Keith is the reason we are customers now and will be the reason why we will be customers for ever, great service and people i can rely on.

This company has a great service and continues to improve their product and we can definitely see it. lastly during the corona virus SD Wisp recognized families being at home more often and allotted more data to be used no charge, this is what i love about them. 5 stars all the way around!

I do not leave comments. However, the service I received from SD Wisp was outstanding. The internet they provide is equally remarkable! I'm at completely satisfied with the product, price, and the customer service. I can honestly and fully recommend this company to any one! Thanks guys!

We went from cell service, Hughes Net, ATT Internet, which was unavailable at our Jamul home, to finally trying SDWisp. Called yesterday, and a tech showed up today. Keith worked with me to get the best location for our property. In no time we had internet speeds i didn't think were possible. Keith came in and checked locations on where our kids play online games.

He also checked on my favorite internet usage locations. What an awesome job! 5 phones, and 2 gaming systems are all running at one time, and the net is as fast as ever. TOTALLY SATISFIED!

This company does not care at all and completely wasted my time giving me the run around. First I contacted them via email. They don't answer phones. Keith would say oh let's get you set up I will have a person with you Friday. On Friday the person would no show. Keith never answers his phone after 2 weeks of me being ready to install right away, they never did it. Company is a joke. Get Hughes net. I called Hughes net and 2 days later on a Sunday I have Internet.

SDWISP is a great locally owned and operated business. The owner personally ensures that customers are satisfied! They are always willing to go above and beyond to make sure you get the service you need. The best internet service in rural East County!

We have had service for about 1 month now and love the speed/reliability. The only complaint is the datacap. Being an IT person myself I understand nothing is free, but its also really hard going from no limit to a 300gb limit. They provide quality internet to a rural area that has no other options, so you cant really complain, but if I am being honest the limit is the only thing holding this back from a 5 star review.

Keep in mind, for a normal user reaching the 300gb cap probably isnt an issue, but for somebody who runs multiple businesses that are all online focused it is very easy to reach the cap without management of usage. It is key to note that they have free data from midnight to 6am, this is a great option for backups and data transfers. I moved most of my business to this timeframe so I can take advantage of this. All in all, unmatched quality that leaves you wanting more. I will update the review in a few months with any new information. Keep up the great work

We have been using SDWISP for our internet service in Lawson Valley in Jamul for over 3 years now. We have LOVED the service in every way. From the actual internet speeds and reliability to the customer service. Can't recommend enough. I have never experienced the issues that others have claimed to experience. They just upgraded service in our coverage zone too which has been great! Thank you SDWISP for helping our family to stay connected in Jamul.

Quality product and incredible customer service. Keith hazel was amazing and a really nice guy. Quickly installed and up and running in a flash. It's tough out here getting a good signal, we had an ATT Velocity which was inconsistent and poor in quality. Keith's reccommedtaions were spot on and he left no trace of his visit. Great to have a local company with real men and women delivering a great internet! Thank you

The most unprofessional service I have ever. I've waited a month since my scheduled installation appointment. When the installer never showed or called I repeatedly left voicemails and emails. No response. We live in a rural area with limited wifi options so we tried every option to get some kind of response. I received a statement in the mail in the amount of $266.00 for service never received!

When I owed them money is when I was finally able to get ahold of the owner of the company who proceeded to tell me I was lying about nobody getting in touch with me to reschedule. He also informed me that if I "wanted to get in a pissing match" I would burn a bridge and get "shitty wifi" if I chose to post a bad review. Would not recommend his service to my worst enemy. As an owner of a business I would expect to have my issues heard and evaluated. Not professional whatsoever.

Can't say enough good things! Very professional company with excellent communication. My fiance and I couldn't be happier with our service. We recently moved to a very rural part of Jamul and were without internet, and at certain times cell phone reception. Moving can be stressful enough without added complications, and SD Wisp did an incredible job of alleviating any and all concerns pertaining to our internet service. Keith is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to, making the setup up a breeze.

He made it clear what we were to expect as future customers and answered all of our questions. The owner Eric is very accessible via phone even though he must be one of the busiest guys in East County ( and believe me I know a few ). The best part of dealing with SD WISP, and yes I find it difficult to narrow it down to a single praise, is the friendly approach they have with customers. When you are dealing with them, you are dealing with neighbors and friends, not a huge distant company. Awesome experience!

"No Soup For You!" Just like the Seinfeld episode, this company has deemed me not worthy. I have been told to find another internet service due to my previous Yelp review. Luckily, there is one other provider I can use. Just to clarify things: The internet service they provide is top notch! Where I live, due to trees and mountains, we cannot get full internet service.

This is not their fault. It's nobody's fault. It's just what it is. We never had any problem with what they were able to give us. It was good, and we appreciated it. When I originally wrote the first review, I was angry! The way they treated my mother, who is a senior citizen finally trying to get internet and catch up with the times, was uncalled for.

She was really upset and didn't understand why Eric would talk to her the way he did. All I am trying to get across is that customer service goes a long way to keeping a great business great. There will be a day that more internet providers come into the rural areas, and if you don't stop talking down to people and treating them as if they are unworthy of your time, then you're going to start seeing a decline in customers.

As of now, as long as you don't call them or question them, I would say go for it. Hopefully, they take what I say into consideration and either hire someone to actually answer the calls and leave Eric and Keith to the field work, or they follow through better and treat everyone equal to themselves.

Well the only word I can think of is disappointing. After reading all of the wonderful reviews about the customer service and unparalleled access both I and my wife (who pays the HughsNet bill) were very interested and excited about the prospect of not only getting great service but being able to shed a corporate giant for a local company. I have spent over 50 years in the RSD area, with 25 of them in Jamul and go out of my way to shop at local business whenever I can because as a business owner myself, I understand the value in keeping local business healthy.

Too bad SDWISP isn't going to be one of them. My family and I (wife, daughter, son-in-law) have all contacted them over 15 times in the past 9 months, and even had a tech that happens to subcontract for them out to the house on an unrelated IT issue, and after all of those attempts they have NEVER had the courtesy to call us back, not even once!.

Last straw came this morning. My wife followed up an unanswered email request for service (SDW's preferred method of initiating a sale per their website) from last Friday, on Monday, and she actually spoke with both Kevin and Eric at SDW. She thought (and told me) whoohoo we can finally get service and get rid of Hughes. Well, that conversation with SDW ended with we'll get back to you in 5 minutes ma'am. which you might have guessed at this point didn't happen (shocker).

So this morning, my wife again called (there's 3 of the 15 which my wife brought to their attention) and again spoke with 2 folks at SDW, and was told that they "had a lot on their plate" and that we weren't in the service area. Hmmmmmm A bit of background is appropriate here. We live on the top of a hill that looks at every one of the service areas that the folks on yelp with all of these great reviews are in.

In fact the service tech (who was here on a cloudy day and couldn't confirm line of sight) told me we were in the service area and that there should be no problem but they HAD TO COME OUT AND LOOK when there was better visibility to confirm, and if not, we would be the PERFECT location for a new antenna because of our location. So how come after SDW blows off 15 attempts to contact them, SDW telling us we're in the service area and have a perfect location, when they get called out for not calling back, they randomly tell us were not in the service area or don't have line of sight when they have never even been here to verify that? I'm not sure if the reviews are real, but I find it hard to believe there are ANY 5 star reviews if this is the way SDW does business, in fact, I wonder how they are in business at all.

We have been with SDWISP for more than two years now. My husband and I manage internet communications (website, email, social media) for Deerhorn Valley Community Association. We are real backcountry, with no Cox or other cable service--even cellphone reception is spotty or non-existent. So reliable internet is critical. We were devastated by the 2007 wildfires, losing more than 150 homes in our small community. We've come to rely on internet for most of our local communication--and to monitor online emergency scanners during high-fire danger times.

Before SDWISP we used the highest-bandwidth residential service available (WildBlue). But just when internet traffic was highest (like during emergencies) our service would go down (WB said it was a "latency issue"). Also, once we reached 80% of our usage limit, our service would slow to a trickle. It was just not acceptable--and downright risky too. SDWISP was an answer to our prayers. We've now had it long enough to give it a good workout.

No service is perfect--especially during emergencies--but we are very grateful for SDWISP. Price, reliability, and customer service are excellent. Not all residences will have necessary line-of-sight to their transmitters, but they have been installing more as their business has expanded. Neighbors have had to wait a while to get on their installation list, but it is SO worth it. I'm just really glad to see they are on YELP now, and I can give them 5 stars with no hesitation.
