Unfortunately I have to strongly recommend you avoid this business. One of their staff members employs an unusual and unethical method of new business development. Rather than relying on traditional strategies such as direct mail, advertising, or online marketing, one of the staff members of the business tried to leverage a pre-existing consumer to business relationship in order to prospect for new business.
A hypothetical conversation may go something like this: "I sell technology consulting services. Your business needs technology consulting services. If your business does not hire us for technology consulting services then we may be forced to post negative online reviews about your business. So by hiring us for your technology consulting needs, we can improve your online reviews!" I am not familiar with online marketing and all of the fancy things these technology business do with websites.
But I do believe that the presence of complicated online marketing reviews has made it more difficult for regular businesses to operate without being pitched on black hat marketing tactics. I think it would likely be better for business owners to rely on trusted friends and family to help with technology solutions.
